Welcome to Dogwood Designs! My name is Janet Coggins and I have been a seamstress, designer, and quilter all my life. I made my first quilt when I was 16 for my boyfriend,Richard, who is now my husband! When we lived in Oklahoma, I belonged to the Spinning Spools Quilt Guild in Shawnee, OK. We were given a challenge to celebrate the State Centennial by making an Oklahoma quilt. My favorite thing about Oklahoma was the beautiful sunsets, all that 'big sky' view. You could see horizon to horizon and the colors were fantastic! After I made my first "Sunsets" quilt, Billie Corgan at Patchwork Place in Norman, OK, suggested I make a pattern. She felt she could sell them in her shop, and 'wow' has she!! Due to that success, I've expanded and designed Route 66, New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana- all meaningful places to me. It's fun researching ideas, taking photos, and designing new quilts. I hope to add more topics soon, such as Florida (where we've often vacationed), Washington, DC (where my daughter recently moved), Oregon, Caribbean, etc, etc, ! Have fun quilting!
